The design theme was the expression of spatial effects that react, for example, to sound, mood, or the dancing behavior of party people. For control purposes, alternative interaction concepts beyond usual controllers were developed. Finally, with the help of the microcontroller Arduino Uno and LED strips, the whole thing was to be realized as a functional prototype.
The definition of the objective of our object for "Homedisco" was at the beginning of our brainstorming. First, we defined what we wanted to achieve overall and what would be the best way to achieve it. Out of our brainstorming, we came up with a versatile light object which can be used for the light control of the party at night but can also be used for other light moods independently.

A functional prototype is also being implemented to test the active principle in practice. The basis for this is formed by various wooden panels. Behind each of these boards are matching LED strips connected to the corresponding potentiometer. In addition, the Arduino Uno, the plug-in board for the cable connections, and a microphone are located on the base plate.
To find out whether the interaction/control with the light object is accepted by the user and can be implemented to accomplish tasks, we conducted 8 user tests. With the help of a first prototype and the test, persons could execute predefined jobs and test various interactive elements.
